IGNACIO ELLACURIA S.J. DREAMERS SCHOLARSHIP

Ignacio Ellacuria S.J. Dreamer’s Scholarship has a purposeful name to acknowledge the diverse background of students and the Jesuit background of Marquette. Ignacio Ellacuria was a Jesuit martyr and president and rector of the UCA, one of the most prominent universities in Central America. Ellacuria contributed to liberation theology, the notion that Jesus is one for the poor and serves the poor and marginalized. Ellacuria was grounded in justice, which is why he is emblematic of the scholarship fund for undocumented students.
